2023 Rob Koranda Scholarship Award Winners

Alex Barger & Cameron DeCook

Congratulations to 2023 Rob Koranda Scholarship Award Recipients Alex Barger and Cameron DeCook!

Alex was recognized for his work ethic, deep rooted humility and commitment to excellence. He is described by teammates as a positive force that always brings his best work, whether it is on the soccer field or the halls of NNHS. A friend wrote that “Others can always count on him.” In the Naperville community, he was selected, one of two students, as a student representative to District 203 Diversity Advisory Committee. At Naperville North, he is a member of the National Honor Society, and a Huskies Crew and Top Dawg leader. He, too, has represented NNHS on the soccer field, being team captain and playing four years on varsity.

Cameron has been a Peer Tutor, Huskies’ Crew Leader, a member of both Junior and Senior Boards, and the Girls in Engineering, Math and Science Club. Rounding out her interests, she is a 4 yr Varsity soccer player and team captain. Cameron is highly regarded as one who brings “the environment up a level”, or as a teacher wrote, “having that “special knack” of knowing what is needed out of herself to make any group she is part of maximize their potential”. An example of this senior’s leadership, a teammate commented, “On the field she encouraged me and held me to an extremely high standard, one SHE BELIEVED I WAS CAPABLE OF. In doing so, she “raised the bar” of my self-value and self-importance as an athlete and teammate.”
